Throughout the lecture, the audience learn how Ben Andrew views the topic of teenagers. This is due to the fact of his experience and that fact that he has been through this. He knows how it feels to be judged by the society and how low these teenagers stand in society. Ben introduces the word that is used to describe the teenagers under council estate. The word he introduces is the word ‘chav.’ A word he describes to be often used to describe teenagers under the council estate. Plan B believes that the description of teenagers who are poor is fairly exaggerated.  He says that the society has false ideologies towards poor teenagers. He believes that the media tends to exaggerate the state of these teenagers and they tend to twist the stories to make the audience view these poor teenagers negatively and as unimportant. Ben Drew talks about at the end of the lecture ways in which he tried to contribute and start programme's  in order to help the youth and to improve their lives. He tries very hard to help these youths as he was once part of them and he was once misunderstood by the society. He is against the stereotypical view of the society when it comes down to the youth.
Plan B understands what these youths have been through and why they tend to behave the way they behave. He says it is due to the fact that they are completely forgotten and ignored by society. He realizes that he was once in that position and that he was neglected by the society. Drew also recognizes that because these youths go through so much they learn to be friends with people in similar situation so that they are never alone.  He tries to portray the youth the way they deserve to be portrayed and he acts as their voices, he speaks what they would say. He also mentions how the media tends to portray them. He talks about how the media only wants to show the dominant ideology and how the media represents the youth as being violent heartless and a bad sight for tourists. The media makes the society have a very negative view towards these kids although they are not aware of the state these kids live in, how many difficulties they go through and hardships.
Drew was aiming for and targeted an elder audience.  He had a very educated and wealthy audience. This is because he wanted to get it through to them about the real situation. These people would fit in the mainstreamers category as they are very educated and have important jobs in society. He was trying to show them that the dominant ideology of the youth is based on false ideologies. Explores would also be a small percentage of his audience. This is because explores tend to want to discover more and if the learned about the reality of teenagers they could contribute into helping them and improving their lifestyles. He wants to speak up to the audience and he wants to show them the positive side of the youth. He want to show them that they shouldn't believe what they read on the newspaper or what they watch on the news as most it is done to please the society .
Looking at what Stanley Cohen says, moral panic is condition, episode, person or group of people emerges to become difened as a threat to social values and interests.'

  1. What are the typical codes and conventions of film trailers - what information is usually provided?
In the Ill Manors trailer the audience are provided with a lot information. It is essential to provide the audience with a lot of information as the trailer is really short. If the audience aren't satisfied they won't watch the movie. In the Ill Manors, the audience learn about the movie. They learn about the movie's name. The audience are told about the main characters in the movie and about the real names. They are also told about the directors name. This is important. This is because if the audience know about the directors previous work they are more likely to go and watch the movie. Another important thing that the audience are told about is the release date. This is important because the audience need to know when they are able to watch the movie. They are also told about the rating of the movie and quotes from from people that have watched the movie.
How are trailers distributed?
The Ill Manors distributer is Revolver Entertainment. Revolver Entertainment was involved with Kidulthood and Adulthood that were really successful. Revolver Entertainment are involved with British films or programme that need some help to be noticed. The producer of Ill Manors is Plan B that was also involved in Kidulhood. He is famous for his music so he is promoting both his music and film. His trailer was played at the cinemas before other movies, on youtube and twitter was a major reason to why his movie is successful.

Who is the target audience? Does it have a unique selling point or use particular techniques to appeal to the audience? Consider the way the scenes are edited together – does the trailer give away any clues about the narrative? Are the main stars visible in the trailer? Is there information about the director of the film? Is there information about the release date? Is a narrator’s voice-over used?
The audience for the movie is teenagers from 18 to 35. This is because the movie includes alot of innapropiate language and sexual activities. I think that the main selling point of the movie is the fact that it is directed by Plan B. He is very known as rappers so his fans are most likely to go and check out the movie. The trailer gives out alot about the narrative. The audiece know that the movie is narrated by more than one narrator. The movie is focused on more than one person which is why the movie is narrated by more than one person. I dont think that the main stars of the movie are shown as all the main characters of the movie are presented at the beginning of the trailer. This shows that all the characters in the movie are equally important throughtout the movie.  In the trailer it is shown that the director of the movie is Plan B. This is the main selling point of the movie which is why it is visible in the  trailer. The audeicne are told about the release date of the movie. This is essential as the audience need to know when is the movie available for the to watch. There is voice-over used in the trailer. This is because the audience need to know what Plan B is telling the audience.
How has the genre of the film been represented through characters, settings, lighting, colour, music, camera shots/movements/angles and editing?
The audience know from the trailer the genre of the movie. This is presented in the trailer as in the trailer we are shwon the voilence and crime that take place in the movie.
