SECOND SLIDE
How are the texts in the three platforms constructed?
Print:
Ill Manors is promoted through promotional posters. Many posters are sent around to increase the audience. The posters function is to let more people know about the film so they can become attracted to the movie and maybe go watch it/ Purchase the DVD. This poster shows the film's characters, the films name and the ratings. All these are included to let the audience know facts about the movie to increase their interest towards the film. Posters are very important and essential when it comes to promoting a film through Print Media.
Broadcast (TV/RADIO)
One of the way Ben Drew is promoting his film is through Broadcast. He attended many interviews and shows. He was doing this in order to increase the public's knowledge about him. What he is trying to achieve by attending so many interviews and shows is to increase the audiences knowledge so they can look into his work such as Ill Manors. This helps the audience learn more about the film and watch it. By doing this, the film increases in the viewers and becomes more popular.
E-media
Now look at each platform individually:
What type of media language does the platform use? Identify the codes and convention of that platformPrint media will give a review of a new film, provide information about the cast, certificate and will often include an interview with a star/ director. Most of the print media productions, such as magazines, include the audience's reaction and critics towards this film. This is to help the audience know the reactions of others so they can judge the film and think if they want to watch the film. There are also pictures of the movie and maybe pictures from behind the scenes, this is included to make the audience want to read more about the article and see how the production of the film was going. The audience who are most likely to be following what articles say are more of an older audience. This is because they are more likely to be effected by it.
Broadcast is another method to promote the film. Broadcast includes radio channels, programmes and interviews. This helps the audience who are not exactly following print media to find out about Ben Drew and to find out more about the film. A more younger audience would be attracted by broadcasts, so this platform and method of promotion is more likely to attract a more younger audience.
The last platform is E-media. E-media is a method of promotion through the internet. This could include the Ill Manors website: http://www.illmanors.com/, blogs, online articles. This platform is very essential as in the society we live in, nothing can spread information faster than anything else.
Now think of how the film is being promoted across the 3 platforms: What are the similarities?
What are the differences?
Similarities: They all have the same functions, to promote the film. They all reach different aged group audience. They are all affective in different ways. They all increase the audience's knowledge about the film and Ben Drew. They all help the audience's reputation improve and helps the audience consciousness about the film. They are all made by the producers to help the audience learn more about the film. They begun to go around before the film so that people knew about the film before it was out. Differences: Print media is more likely to reach an older audience. E-media is more likely to reach an younger audience. Broadcast is more likely to reach an middle-aged audience and maybe a young audience as well. They are all different platforms used to reach a different kind of audience in order to increase the audience knowledge about the film and to teach them about Ben Drews values and ideas about the society we live in.
