My preliminary exercise tells a story of a guy who walks to up to a girl. He is asked by the girl who is sitting at the desk, 'mission accomplished?' He answers by saying 'Yes, Ma'am.' He talks to her with nervousness and fear. This connotes that she is of some kind of authority. This female with authority asks him 'When's the next attack?' He answers by saying 'Tomorrow night.'This shows that both characters are planning an attack. In this preliminary exercise, I was working with Jinan and Maram. We all agreed that we had to make our exercise of something that will leave the audience thinking 'WHAT?'
The Preliminary exercise starts with the main male character walking too the door, a close up was used for this. I think that showing his feet heated up the scene. It acted as a foreshadow. There's then a scene of the male character standing for few second, a medium shot is used for this. We made the male character stand to show his nervousness and insecurity The male character walks towards the chair, a medium shot is also used for this. He sits down and there's a close up of his hands. His hands are linked and nervously making movements. This was also used to connote nervousness. We then used a 180 degree shot. It was over the shoulder of the female 'boss' and the 'nervous' man. We used this technique correctly and showed what were trying to show. The continuity was really effective, as it gave the audience the feeling that it was all happening with no stop's.

The acting was plausible. It was realistic and it reflected on our shots. If the acting wasn't up to standards it would've ruined the quality of our work.
There  some few mistakes that we committed. We made the preliminary exercise take place is a noisy environment, this made some of the lines incomprehensible. This could be improved by using a quite environment.   I think that we  genuinely learnt so much from this exercise. We learnt new techniques and also learned from mistakes that we made when our exercise was being played and our classmates were commenting on it. Overall, it was really good practice.
What went well in our preliminary exercise is that we used all of the shots in a good way. We made sure that everything we did would connect with the rest of our short film. We made sure that the countinuaty of our work was done in a good manner in order to make it all seem like it waws in the same shot. Furthermore, I peersonally think that the acting was up to standarded as it demnstarted and portrayed our ideas.
What could go better next time is: less noisy background. This small video was taken in the common room. The noisy common room is in the background and this could divert the concentration of our audiences. Another thing we can improve on is the shot that shows the main male character standing for few seconds before he goes on to walk. I think that shot was wrong for us to include as it made the short video look less plausible.
